MARKERS OF TIME
With the argument that the warming of the planet is an unintended consequence of humans’ commodification and control of time, Markers of Time is made up of a range of singular artworks and smaller projects. These works consider incongruities between human-controlled/measured time and natural-integrated/continuous time with a focus on how climate change is noticeably altering natural rhythms and cycles in the delicate ecosystems of the Arctic and tropics.
The project was started in 2010, a decade ago, before the impacts of the climate crisis were noticeable in the temperate zone where most of the first world lives. The intuitive investigations in the project reflect a sensing by the artist of the start to a pivotal moment in our relationship to the planet as the realities of climate change have since become exponentially apparent across the globe.
